High Conservation Value Forests

Bald Eagle special forestsAll forests hold some special value. Whether it’s a personal value as part of a family’s legacy, a cultural value as an historic site, or an environmental value as habitat for local wildlife, that value is worth protecting.

In some woods, many of these different values come together. Forests that have outstanding or critically important environmental, social, biodiversity and landscape value are known as High Conservation Value Forests (HCVF), and they require special care.

That care doesn’t have to involve a lot of effort or expense, however. The right information and a little planning can go a long way toward protecting these especially precious places.
