About AFF
Here at the American Forest Foundation, our staff is dedicated to helping people like you who own woodlands to enjoy your special haven in the best ways possible. As woodland owners themselves, AFF’s staff wanted to create a place for woodland owners to find the right kind of information for them – no matter how large or small their wood lot is.
The American Forest Foundation (AFF), a 501c3 nonprofit, works on the ground with families, teachers and elected officials to promote stewardship and protect our nation’s forest heritage. A commitment to the next generation unites our nationwide network of forest owners and educators working to keep America’s forests healthy and our children well prepared for the future they will inherit.
We have been recognized for our work by Charity Navigator, who designated the American Forest Foundation as a four star charity.
The Importance of Private Forests
Most of America’s forests are owned privately; nearly 282 million acres of forestland are owned by 22 million family forest owners. As the largest ownership group of forestland in America, family forest owners are key to protecting the values that come from well-managed forests: Clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat, wood products, good-paying rural jobs, and nature for hiking, hunting and fishing.
We hope you will join American Forest Foundation in securing a future for our country's forests. Visit AFF's website to subscribe to our quarterly enewsletter, donate or check out our magazine for woodland owners.
