I have 80 acres in North Florida and considering a large select cut to ten trees per acre to regenerate .
I border a hunt club and in trying to improve the property I started considering a large select cut with smaller trees being mulched. My thought is to provide more food and ground cover along with 3 additional 1/2 acre food plots. Currently about 2 acres out of eighty are planted. Property was mostly cut 20 yrs ago and not much diversity inside the treeline. Nervous about ruining the place though. Thanks
You need to talk with a forester. A forester can determine is your proposed plan will be possible and effective. Additionally, they can help facilitate the sale of your merchantable trees and chipping everything else.
