About Us

The Piney Woods Project helps woodland owners better manage their land and restore southeast Mississippi's longleaf pine forests.  We provide information to area landowners and help local partners expand their outreach efforts.

In 2010, the American Forest Foundation (AFF) initiatied the project in the 16 county Piney Woods are of southeast Mississippi.  We chose the region because of widespread interest in longleaf pine restoration, existing capacity with county forestry associations, and the chance to work with parnters already active on the ground.  Currently, AFF and its partners are reaching out to Piney Woods landowners to determine the best ways to provide information and opportunities for forest management.
