First thin ...

At what point do I need to thin out a newly planted pine plantation to create the rows? What will the trees taken from this thinning be used for? Pulp?

Pine plantations are normally thinned at age 14-16.

The timber harvested (pulpwood) from the first thinning is most commonly used for pulp in the paper making process. Most of it is used to make bags or boxes.
