I have a five ac thinned loblolly plantation in Mobile County. DBH 12-16 dbh with an understory of yaupon that is 12 to 15 ft tall on average.

I would like to reduce the understory and do a prescribed burn and improve the herbaceous layer. I need a herbicide recommendation that will not harm the loblolly reduce the amount of yaupon. As an alternative, I have considered using a tractor or skid steer to knock down the yaupon and they run a backing fire through the stand. What would you do?
