Fire Regime 5: What You Should Be Doing

If your forest is in Fire Regime 5, you are among the fortunate few who don’t really have to be too concerned with fire. 

Fire will certainly return, but perhaps not in your lifetime or the lifetime of your children.  You do not need to thin or use prescribed fire to make your forest more fire resistant.

However it is wise to take some precautions, like building your home out of fire resistant materials and keeping fuels away from your home. Serious drought can occur at any time and is even more likely to occur in the future as the climate continues to warm.
