July 28: The First Seven Steps In Planning Your Legacy

During the July webinar, we reviewed what we have covered in the last five webinars.  We distilled it into seven steps you can take to plan your legacy and reviewed all the resources available to help with your planning.  If you missed it, check out the recording and review the slides from the presentation

During the webinar, we covered these steps:

  1. Know what you have: Create an estate overview to document your assets.
  2. Think about your long term goals: Record what you'd like your land to look like in the next 10, 20, 30 year.
  3. Who does what on your land? Document all the jobs and tasks you do and the professionals that help you.
  4. Who will be the next owners of your land? Think about who will be your heirs, what can you do to build their connection with your land?
  5. Gathering your documents: Your estate plan can include several different important documents.  Do you have them all?
  6. Communicating with your family: Now that you've developed your long term goals, its time to share them with your family.  Learn how to navigate generational differences.
  7. Hold a family meeting: Efficiently share information and engage them in the management of your land.
