Mark Torok, Cooperative Forestry Assistance Senior Forester for Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe & Palm Beach Counties
I have been working as a Senior Forester in the Florida Forest Service Cooperative Forestry Assistance Program covering Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, & Palm Beach Counties since 2006. I received my bachelor’s degree in Forest Management from the University of Florida’ School of Forest Resources & Conservation in 1997. From 1998 to 2001, I worked as an OPS forestry technician under Dr. Donald Rockwood at the University of Florida in Gainesville assisting in his research of forest biomass and phytoremediation. In August 2001, I became a forester in the Florida Forest Service’s Forest Inventory & Analysis Program where I collected forestry data in the 24 most southern counties in Florida until 2006. Then in 2006 I returned to my home county, Broward, to work in my current position with the Florida Forest Service.
When I’m not working, I can be found either gardening in my landscape at home, or at the beach enjoying south Florida’s treasure by swimming, surfing, and fishing, or spending time at parks & natural areas hiking and biking.
