Forester: Matt Kennard
Matt Kennard, Volusia County Forester, Florida Forest Service
I began my career with the Florida Forest Service in 2007 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources and Conservation from the University of Florida. In 2013, I earned the Master of Science in Forest Resources and Conservation, also from the University of Florida. My service to the citizens of Florida have included being a Forester and managing 5,000 acres of state lands in St. Johns County, FL for seven years. I served as the Recreation Coordinator in the Bunnell District for one year until promoting to the Volusia County Senior Forester in January 2016. I enjoy assisting landowners with their forest management needs, teaching forestry at local Volusia County schools, and providing wildfire assistance to my local unit.
One of the most interesting things about my job is that my firefighting role has given me the ability to travel throughout the United States to assist other cooperating agencies during times of wildfire emergency.
