Walton County Senior Forester, Thomas Moss
I am relatively new with the Florida Forest Service, having started in Walton County in the summer of 2016. I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Forestry, after working a few odd jobs I began working with a land management company in south west Alabama. I worked there for 5 years gaining experience with timber marking, cruising, burning, and other aspects of field forestry. Wanting to manage for more than timber production, I came to the Florida Forest Service.
While I am not at work, I still enjoy my time outdoors hiking, fishing, and canoeing. My wife and I enjoy going to different parks and historic sites in our spare time. The best part of this job is helping people, from the smile of a child after showing them something fun and educational to the reassuring look of a landowner I have helped get the most out of their property.
