Joseph MacKenzie, Senior Forester, Florida Forest Service
I have been working as the Gilchrist County and Levy County Forester for the Florida Forest Service since 2016. After graduating with a Forest Management degree from Southern Illinois University, I worked for eighteen years with Georgia-Pacific, primarily assisting private forest landowners. Next, I started a private forestry consulting firm serving private forest landowners for 10 years. My wife and I, along with three lovely daughters, have lived in the Newberry area since 2007.
When I’m not working to help private landowners manage their forest, I spend my spare time doing home maintenance, mountain biking, and volunteering with various community organizations. My favorite part of my work is serving private forest landowners and discussing strategies to help them meet multiple objectives across a wide range of unique and diverse lands. I also enjoy educating the public on the many products and benefits that come from Florida Forests.
