Forester: Joe Vanderwerff
Bay/Gulf County Senior Forester, Joe Vanderwerff:
I have been working for the Florida Forest Service since 2006. I attended Southern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in Forest Resource Management in 2005. Shortly after college, I was hired by the Florida Forest Service as a State Lands Forester at Point Washington State Forest. I worked at Point Washington State Forest for 6 years before being promoted to Senior Forester of Bay and Gulf County.
I have lived and made my home in Panama City Beach for the last 10 plus years. I enjoy fishing on the beach, camping at St Andrews, and watching my Chicago Bears and Florida Gators play football. My favorite part of this Job is meeting private landowners and discussing their property and hearing their cool stories they like to tell me. I also like assisting with educational programs and celebrating Arbor Day with children and adults.
